Premier League giants Manchester United are not having a good season either on the field or off it. It is now being reported that their attempts to strengthen their side by adding a Barcelona star will not bear any fruits since the player’s family members are not in favour of the move. The player is none other than Ivan Rakitic.

According to a report carried by Daily Mail, Ivan Rakitic was all set to make a move from Barca to Man United but it is his family who are not interested in making the deal happen.

It is worth highlighting that the Croatian seems to be no longer needed in the Barcelona dugout under manager Ernesto Valverde. This is because talented players who are much younger than him have are being preferred over him and Rakitic is only counting his days in the club.

On the other hand, Manchester United find themselves in the bottom half of the points tally and are just two points above the relegation zone. The Red Devils are currently looking a weak unit and are hence in search of quality players who they can include in their team.

One of the players they were targeting for was Rakitic but now the latest development implies that the chances of the deal materialising would be very less. Manchester United could well be forced to have a look at other midfield options like Sean Longstaff, Emre Can or James Maddison.

Reportedly, Rakitic’s family would be happy to move to a place with a warmer climate like Milan or Paris.
