The Asia Cup 2018 is all set to kick-start on Saturday, 15 September, in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). In the tournament opener, Bangladesh will take on Sri Lanka at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

Bangladesh and Sri Lanka have played 42 One Day Internationals (ODI). The islanders lead the encounter with 36 wins against 6 losses.

The two last faced each other in the January 2018 Tri-series which was won comfortably by Sri Lanka by 79 runs.

Bangladesh, on the other hand, is entering Asia Cup after a 2-1 ODI victory over West Indies in their backyard. On the other hand, Sri Lanka is coming off a 3-2 series defeat against South Africa.

Sri Lanka suffered a major blow ahead of the 14th edition of Asia Cup as Dinesh Chandimal has been ruled out of the tournament due to a finger injury.
