Regardless of your busy schedule, it is important to carve out some time to give your body the care it deserves. It includes taking care of your facial skin, pampering the skin of your hands and feet and dental care before bedtime. Incorporate a few good habits while you are young instead of regretting it later. Here are a few quick, easy and affordable ways to care for your skin and teeth before you head to bed:

Washing your face with warm water

Our face is the most sensitive area of the skin on our bodies. Whether or not you wear makeup or suffer from acne, it is important to wash your face with a block of gentle moisturising soap before going to bed. Washing your face helps to clear your pores and your skin can finally breathe overnight. This practice removes makeup, oil (which your face will have at the end of the day), dead skin, bacteria, dust and dirt leaving your face looking fresh and smooth. This practice also helps in preventing premature aging and the development of wrinkles.

Moisturising your face

Use a natural moisturiser or an antioxidant-rich lotion on your face after washing it before bedtime. It will help your skin to stay hydrated overnight and thus makes it vibrant and youthful.

Wash and moisturise your hands and feet

Wash your hands and feet with a moisturising soap before you go to sleep. Do not use a bar of antibacterial soap as it can dry out your skin. After washing, apply a hand and foot cream on hands and feet respectively that contains emollient ingredients, such as glycerine, Shea butter, and natural oils. Massage the cream in to ensure that your hands and feet stay soft and supple.

Moisturise your nails and cuticles

To keep your cuticles and nails healthy and beautiful, apply a vitamin E-rich oil to the nails and skin around your nails each night before you go to bed. It will prevent the skin of the cuticles from becoming cracked and painful and also keep your nails healthy and gorgeous.

Drink a glass of water

Nothing can benefit your body more than water. Water helps to keep your body hydrated and look healthy. Drinking a glass of water before bed prepares your body in a better way overnight to face whatever the next day holds.

Make these simple habits a priority every evening before going to bed, even if you are travelling or coming home late. Although most people take these habits for granted until some problem develops but it is important to be kind to your skin and oral health and take good care of them before problems arise. Also, treat existing problems before they limit your ability to function. Have a good night’s sleep!
