The World Blood Donor Day authorized by the World Health Organisation (WHO) is celebrated annually on June 14 in order to spread awareness about blood donation, the need for safe blood and to express gratitude for voluntary blood donation.

According to statistics by the World Health Organization, on an average, India needs 12 million units of blood per year. A dearth of this precious resource has an immense effect on victims of road accidents, cancer patients, women with complicated pregnancies, children undergoing Thalessemia among others.

India’s popular shopping centre, Select CITYWALK organises a camp to mark this occasion and contribute to the noble cause, every year. Again, this year, they would be organising their 8th blood donation camp in order to motivate people to save lives by donating blood. Around 1900 units of blood have already been collected by the shopping centre so far.
