Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President Amit Shah will ride a motorbike to a ‘Yuva Hunkar’ rally in Haryana’s Jind city on Thursday and will lead the bike rally along with Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar and BJP supporters.

A temporary helipad has been prepped, where Amit Shah will land in a helicopter from Delhi and CM Khattar from Chandigarh. They will then ride bikes to the venue of the rally about 600 metres away.

As per media reports, the rally is being organised to muster up support for the party in the region for the Haryana Assembly elections next year, as Jind is considered the epicenter of Haryana politics.

Around 100 companies of central forces and 250 companies of Haryana Police have been deployed and security presence in the city has been increased.

A total of 150 traffic police personnel, two ACPs, and nine traffic inspectors have been deployed in the city.

As per media reports, the BJP has made it clear that it is mandatory for all ministers and MLAs to attend the rally on motorcycles.

On Wednesday, Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar rode a brand new bullet to the venue to make inspections regarding the event.

However, the rally has been criticised by, who have said that rally would increase pollution levels in Jind.

Even, the NGT had sought responses from the Centre and the Haryana government regarding the usage of bikes in the rally. The Haryana government had submitted that the estimated one lakh motorbikes that would be participating in the rally in Jind would have “valid PUC certificates”.

A Jat outfit has threatened to disrupt the bike rally in Jind, All India Jat Aarakshan Sangharsh Samiti (AIJASS) chief Yashpal Malik had cited non-fulfilment of a number of the group’s demands as the reason behind the plan to block the BJP chief’s rally with nearly 50,000 tractor trolleys.
