As a result of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s strict directives and continuous monitoring, a significant reduction in stubble-burning incidents has been observed in Uttar Pradesh. Due to the state government’s proactive efforts, farmers are now turning to alternative methods of crop residue management.

A clear reduction in stubble burning incidents has been recorded in 20 districts, including Mathura, Pilibhit, Saharanpur, Barabanki, Lakhimpur Kheri, Kaushambi, Etah, Hardoi, Jalaun, Fatehpur, Maharajganj, Kanpur Dehat, Jhansi, Mainpuri, Bahraich, Etawah, Gorakhpur, Aligarh, Unnao, and Sitapur.

Within these districts, Etah, Kaushambi, Sitapur, and Unnao have the lowest incidence of stubble burning. This situation indicates that Chief Minister Yogi’s instructions are beginning to have an impact on the ground.

Officials here on Thursday said CM Yogi had directed all district magistrates and relevant departments to monitor stubble burning incidents via satellite and to educate farmers about alternative methods. The administration is encouraging farmers to use crop residue management machines, composting techniques, and bio-decomposers.

The state government has imposed environmental compensation fees on those who burn stubble. The compensation fee will be ₹2,500 for areas less than two acres, ₹5,000 for two to five acres, and ₹15,000 for areas exceeding five acres. Additionally, a nodal officer is being appointed for every 50 to 100 farmers who will ensure the prevention of stubble burning in their area.
