As the Bihar Assembly election battle intensifies, political strategist and Jan Suraaj Party founder Prashant Kishor made a significant announcement on Wednesday that could alter the course of the upcoming polls.

With just 21 days left for people to vote in 243 Bihar assembly polls, Kishor declared that he will not be contesting the Bihar Assembly elections. In an exclusive interview with news agency PTI, he said the decision was made by the party in its larger interest.

He has also set a high benchmark for his party’s success in the polls, stating that a “tally of less than 150 seats” for Jan Suraaj would be considered a defeat.

Outlining the party’s broader vision, Kishor asserted that a Jan Suraaj victory would transform Bihar and help it count among the 10 most advanced states of the country.

He also claimed that the party’s success would have a nationwide impact that will shape the direction of national politics.

Regarding the high-profile Raghopur seat, currently held by Tejashwi Yadav, Kishor confirmed that a Jan Suraaj candidate would contest from there, emphasizing that the decision was taken in the best interests of the party.

“If I were to contest, it would have distracted me from the necessary organisational work,” Kishor told PTI.

When asked about a potential alliance or support from either the INDIA bloc or the NDA, Kishor ruled out a fractured mandate

The Bihar Assembly elections will be held in two phases, on November 6 and November 11, with counting scheduled for November 14.
