Asia’s largest and most prestigious aviation conference and exhibition, Wings India 2026, has adjudged Uttarakhand as the best state in the country for promoting the aviation ecosystem. The recognition by Wings India 2026 comes in the wake of the creation of a widespread network of air services across various parts of the Himalayan state over the past few years.
The Wings India 2026 international aviation conference and exhibition, held in Hyderabad, conferred the prestigious “Best State for Promotion of Aviation Ecosystem” award on Uttarakhand. A statement issued by Uttarakhand Director General, Directorate of Information and Public Relations, Banshidhar Tiwari, said the honour was bestowed in recognition of the state government’s effective initiatives, policy support, and sustained efforts to strengthen the aviation ecosystem. The award was presented at a ceremony held at Begumpet Airport in Hyderabad by Union Minister for Civil Aviation Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu and Secretary, Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA), Sameer Kumar Sinha.

It is noteworthy that Wings India is the country’s premier aviation platform, which brings together policymakers, industry experts, investors, and stakeholders from India and abroad. “The recognition received by Uttarakhand on this forum is a matter of pride for the state and is expected to open new avenues for investment and development in the future,” Tiwari said.

Significantly, the Uttarakhand government has created nearly 15 new domestic air service routes under the Centre’s Ude Desh ka Aam Nagrik (UDAN) scheme. These routes were introduced primarily to provide air connectivity to people across the state, especially in the hilly regions of Kumaon and Garhwal.
Reacting to the Wings India 2026 recognition, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said, “This award is a testament to Uttarakhand’s comprehensive aviation policy, improved administrative coordination, and our commitment to strengthening air connectivity across the state. Connecting mountainous and remote regions through air services has remained our priority, which not only boosted tourism but also led to significant improvements in disaster management and healthcare services.”
He added, “With the support of the central government, the expansion of air services, successful implementation of the UDAN scheme, and development of modern aviation infrastructure are rapidly establishing Uttarakhand as an emerging aviation hub.”
