Bad weather forces Rahul to cancel Almora rally, return to Delhi
Congress MP and Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi's Almora rally was cancelled on Thursday owing to bad weather conditions in the Kumaon region.
Minta Devi said that she don’t want Opposition MPs to use her name and photo in their protest.
Minta Devi, a voter in Bihar’s Siwan district allegedly listed as 124-year-old in the Election Commission of India’s voter list, has slammed the Opposition MPs for wearing a t-shirt with her photo without her permission.
“Who are they (Opposition MPs) to me? Who is Priyanka Gandhi or Rahul Gandhi to me? Who gave them the right to wear t-shirts featuring,” Minta Devi asked while speaking to news agency ANI.

“This should not be done, I do not want this…I want my details to be corrected…,” she said.
Devi also hit out at those who entered her details, clarifying that her date of birth in the Aadhar card is 15-07-1990.
“Whoever entered the details, did they do so with their eyes closed?…If I am 124-years-old in the eyes of Govt, why are they not giving me old age pension? My Aadhaar Card mentions 15-07-1990 as my date of birth,” she added.

Her reaction came hours after INDIA bloc MPs, including Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, protested in Parliament over the alleged “vote theft” by wearing T-shirts featuring the name and photo of Minta Devi.
Referring to Minta Devi’s case, Congress whip in Lok Sabha, Manikam Tagore launched a direct attack on Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar, alleging that under his tenure, the poll panel has become a department of the ruling BJP.
“The level of the Election Commission’s failure can be understood under the tenure of CEC Gyanesh Kumar. The EC has become a department of the BJP. They have completely failed. For example, in the electoral rolls, there is one Minta Devi, who is 124 years old!” Tagore said.
Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi said Minta Devi is not the single such case and alleged there are many such cases. He asserted that it is the responsibility of the Election Commission to ensure ‘one man-one vote’.
“It is the responsibility of the Election Commission to implement One Man-One Vote, but they have not done their job…There is a case of 124-year-old Minta Devi, and there are many such cases. The picture is still incomplete,” he said.
