That Prime Minister Narendra Modi has an ear for music is known to all. His love for drums is particularly noteworthy especially since we have seen him play the percussion instrument on some of his foreign tours – Japan, Tanzania and Nepal – as well as in India.

So today, the music-loving Indian PM must have cherished the moment when visiting President of Seychelles, Danny Faure, picked up a Sitar and sang a patriotic Seychellois song.

Faure, who is on a six-day India trip, was in New Delhi on Monday for a bilateral meeting with PM Modi.

Following the round of talks during which key agreements, including those in naval cooperation and cyber security, were signed, the President attended a lunch hosted by PM Modi at Hyderabad House.

It was at the Hyderabad House that the Seychellois President displayed his musical talent leaving everyone enthralled.

Ravish Kumar, the spokesperson for the External Affairs Ministry, tweeted a video showing the President singing ‘O Mon Pei Sesel’, a popular patriotic song of Seychelles, with PM Modi, who was clearly enjoying the rare moment, by his side.

“Striking the notes of friendship! Impressive singing by the President of #Seychelles Danny Faure of  ‘O Mon Pei Sesel’ at the lunch hosted by PM @narendramodi at Hyderabad House in New Delhi.  @SeychellesMFA @hci_seychelles,” tweeted Kumar along with the video.

The video ends with PM Modi and others applauding the President as he finishes the song.

‘O Mon Pei Sesel’ which translates to “O my beloved Seychelles” in English is one of the most popular patriotic songs of the Indian Ocean archipelago. Versions of the song have been sung by various top artistes of the island nation and it is consider a national theme song.

Guess President Faure knows how to strike the right notes of friendship.
