BJP chief Amit Shah’s ‘slip-of-tongue’ moment while addressing a press conference in Davanagere on Tuesday left the party and its state chief ministerial candidate BS Yeddyurappa embarrassed.

While launching an attack on the Congress government, Shah said: “Recently a retired Supreme Court judge said if there was ever a competition of the most corrupt government then the Yeddyurappa government is number one…” which, for obvious reasons, shocked Yeddyurappa and the BJP.

As soon as the gaffe was made, BJP MP Pralhad Joshi whispered into Shah’s ear: “Siddaramaiah government” and after realising his mistake, Shah immediately corrected himself saying that “arre re…Siddaramaiah government is number one in corruption.”

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah taunting the BJP said that the party’s own national president had termed Yeddyurappa as the most corrupt government.

In a tweet, Siddaramaiah said that Shah has finally spoken the truth.

Amit Shah attacked the ruling government in the conference and said, “On one hand their party President talks about uniting Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs and Christians, on the other hand, their CM is creating a divide between Hindus, such a major internal-conflict is not there in any other party.”

The BJP President also raked up the issue of farmers, “There has been BJP govt in Gujarat, MP and Chhattisgarh for the last 15 years and farmer suicide numbers in these states have been very low. The suicide cases that have been registered were due to depression and farmers’ personal issues.”
