Uttarakhand Government to hold panchayats to encourage reverse migration
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has directed officials to intensify efforts to curb large-scale migration from the hills, calling it one of the state’s major challenges.
This was revealed in a review meeting of the state’s free coaching scheme for EWS, chaired by the Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan at state secretariat on Wednesday.

The Uttarakhand government will provide free coaching classes for competitive examinations to 10,000 Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) students in the state. Beneficiary students will be picked after a strict screening process.

Speaking to his subordinate education department officials,
Bardhan instructed them to ensure quality education to the beneficiary students who will be selected after a strict screening process. Officials in turn informed that 10,000 students will be selected under the free coaching scheme for this year. These will include students studying in Class 11 and those who have passed Class 12. According to the officials, classes will be available for the students belonging to Arts, Science and Commerce streams while students who have bagged marks of distinction will be imparted advanced coaching.

Directing the Education Department, Bardhan said, “Quality of learning under free coaching scheme should be improved and made more result oriented, while selection of the aspirants must be done through strict screening process. Besides this, preparation time should be scheduled seeing the convenience of the aspirants.”
He warned the officials that free coaching classes should not be mere formality and that it must be a high result oriented action plan of the government.
Sharing details of the scheme, Director, state education, Mukul Kumar Sati informed that free coaching for the preparation of competitive examinations will be provided to 10,000 students this year. Selected aspirants studying in 11th standard will undergo a two-year classroom program, while those who have passed Class 12th will be inducted in a one-year classroom program.
