Underlining the importance of proper implementation of policies of the governments at the Centre and states, Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu asked officers and civil servants to ensure proper delivery of services.

Speaking at the 43rd Advanced Professional Programme in Public Administration of IIPA in New Delhi on Tuesday, 13 February, the Vice President asked the participants to come up with unique ideas for the implementation of the policies.

He said that uplifting of the poorest of the poor must be the priority for officers of all government departments.

“The governance systems must keep the people at the centre of their functioning, they must think in terms of delivery,” he said.

Stressing on fact that the success of any scheme is based on people’s participation, Naidu asked officials to be competent, creative and pro-active and encourage people to contribute to nation building.

He further said that we must now ensure that we deepen the roots and ensure that fruits of democratic governance reach all the people.

He asked all the participating officers to learn from the best practices worldwide and apply it imaginatively to the Indian context. They should be focused on the outcomes and the impact, he added.
