The vision of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and his fast-paced working style have taken the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin to record achievements in Uttar Pradesh.
While it takes an average of 299 days to construct a house at the national level, Uttar Pradesh has set an example by constructing a house in just 195 days. Uttar Pradesh has so far completed the construction of 36.34 lakh houses against the target of 36.57 lakh houses between 2016-17 and 2024-25. The construction work of the remaining houses is also in progress, officials here claimed on Tuesday.

Along with this, there has been significant progress in the Chief Minister Housing Scheme-Rural run by the state government. 3.51 lakh houses have been completed against the target of 3.73 lakh, while work is going on rapidly on 22,000 houses.

Under the scheme, UP is at the second position at the national level with 99.37 per cent achievement. Sikkim is at the first position with 99.57 percent, although its target was only 1,399 houses. At the same time, Uttar Pradesh is number one in the Government of India’s Performance Index, mason training, social audit, inspection on Area Officer App, land lease to eligible beneficiaries, and housing completion.
Officials said the constructed houses have been saturated with 99.39 per cent toilets, 93.31 per cent electricity connections, 94.42 percent LPG connections and 80.02 percent drinking water connections through convergence. With this, Pradhan Mantri Awas is now not just a roof, but is becoming a complete house equipped with facilities.
Recently, in a review meeting chaired by Chief Secretary S P Goyal, instructions were given that the construction of the remaining houses should be completed soon with standards and quality. Along with this, the beneficiaries should also be linked to schemes like Divyangjan Pension, Widow Pension, Old Age Pension, Motorized Tricycle, so that their overall development is ensured.
Under the Pradhan Mantri Janman Yojana, out of 145 houses approved for the Boksa tribe of Bijnor district, 123 have been completed. At the same time, 587 model houses have been built under the Pradhan Mantri Model Housing (Rural), 190 are under construction. The work of verification of Awas Plus Survey-2024 is also going on at a fast pace. Apart from this, 25,000 women masons have been trained through RSETI in 2025-26.
