High alert has been sounded in Uttar Pradesh following an advisory by the Centre about terror threat before Republic Day.
Police sources said here on Monday that the Centre had alerted several states including UP after the arrest of two terrorists by the Delhi Police recently.
After the alert, special vigilance is being exercised in western UP. Instructions have been given to increase vigilance at places of religious importance, all agencies including Anti-Terror Squade (ATS) and LIUs have been asked to remain alert, sources said.
Meanwhile, a special security drill has been introduced in Ayodhya, Prayagraj and Varanasi in view of the alert.
