UP horror: Suspecting son’s ‘plot to kill,’ history-sheeter shoots him dead in car in Meerut

Within 24 hours after a 23-year-old youth was found shot dead in a car parked along a highway in Uttar Pradesh’s Meerut, police have arrested his father as the prime suspect in the murder case.

According to police officials, the accused carried out the murder over a suspicion that the victim had paid ₹10 lakh to get his father killed over a major family dispute, PTI reported.

Investigation in the matter began after police received information about Tushar Tyagi’s body lying inside a vehicle parked near the Panchi underpass in Khar Khoda area of Meerut. A complaint regarding this was made through Dial-112.

Soon after, police registered a case of murder on the complaint of victim’s wife, Shikha, and constituted three special teams on the directions of Senior Superintendent of Police, according to Additional Superintendent of Police (Rural) Abhijeet Kumar.

Police has claimed to have solved the murder case within 24 hours after receiving information about Tushar’s body in the vehicle.

On Tuesday, police arrested Tushar’s father Sunder Tyagi along with his associate Amit alias Vedwan, while efforts are being made to apprehend another accused in the matter, according to PTI.

While investigating the matter, officials analysed technical evidence, CCTV footage along with other physical evidence. It was revealed that Sunder Tyagi arrived in Kankerkhera from Dehradun on the day of the incident. He even travelled to the Kaili area along with his associate Amit.

In CCTV footage, police team saw the victim’s SUV and his father’s vehicle moving together before the crime.

During interrogation, it came to light that Sunder Tyagi was present in his son’s vehicle at the time of the incident and later allegedly shot him dead, officials said.

They later abandoned Tushar’s body along with his SUV near the Panchi underpass and fled the spot.

Sunder is believed to have taken the extreme step after getting suspected that his son had paid ₹10 lakh as contract money to get his father killed. Moreover, he alleged that his son used to frequently assault the family members.

Notably, this was not the first time when Sunder Tyagi has got involved in a crime. Police officials have recognised him as a former history-sheeter of Hapur Dehat police station, with multiple cases registered against him, including murder.
