The United Nations has strongly condemned the cowardly Pulwama terror attack that killed more than 40 CRPF personnel and left several critically injured in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Thursday.

“We express our deepest condolences to the families of those who lost their lives and to the people and Government of India. We wish a speedy recovery to the injured and call for those behind the attack to be brought to justice,” the global organisation said.

US Envoy to India Kenneth Juster said the United States stands alongside India in confronting terror and defeating it.

“US Mission in India strongly condemns today’s terrorist attack in J-K. We send our heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims,” he said.

The US Department of State too condemned the dastardly attack on the CRPF convoy.

“We extend our deepest condolences to the victims and their families, and wish a speedy recovery to those injured,” it tweeted.

The US Department of State further called on all the countries to uphold their responsibilities pursuant to the UN Security Council resolutions to deny safe haven and support to terrorists.

Russian President Vladimir Putin wrote to President Ram Nath Kovind and Prime Minister Narendra Modi extending his sincere condolences families of the bereaved.

“We strongly condemn this brutal crime. The perpetrators and sponsors of this attack, undoubtedly, should be duly punished,” Putin tweeted.

Israel’s Ambassador to India, Ron Malka said the country “strongly condemns the terror attack in Pulwama and stands by its Indian friends during in this difficult hour”.

“We send our deepest condolences to CPRF and their families, people of India and the Indian govt following the terrible attack,” the envoy tweeted.

Bangladesh PM Sheikh Hasina offered her condolences to the families of the slain security personnel, adding that Bangladesh remains steadfast in its commitment against terrorism of all forms and maintains a zero-tolerance policy against any kind of terrorist activities.

“We would continue to work and cooperate with the international community including India to eradicate the menace of terrorism,” the PM added.

Sri Lanka PM Ranil Wickremesinghe strongly condemned the brutal attack in J-K and expressed his condolences to PM Modi and the families of jawans who lost their lives.

Maldives Foreign Minister Abdulla Shahid too condemned the suicide terrorist attack.

Bhutan Foreign Minister Tandi Dorji said it was shocked and saddened by the terror attack in Kashmir. “We strongly condemn this heinous attack and express our solidarity with families of victims, the people and the Government of India”.

Nepal Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli spoke to PM Modi and expressed condolences, concern and condemnation over the gruesome attack.

The Ministry of External Affairs earlier on Thursday condemned in the strongest possible terms the cowardly terrorist attack on the security forces in Pulwama.

It said the heinous act was perpetrated by Jaish-e-Mohammed, a Pakistan-based terror organisation adding that it has been given full freedom by the Pakistan government to operate and expand his terror infrastructure in territories under the control of Pakistan and to carry out attacks in India and elsewhere with impunity.

The MEA further reiterated its appeal to the members of international community to support the proposal to list terrorists, including JeM Chief, Masood Azhar as a designated terrorist under 1267 Sanctions Committee of the UN Security Council and ban terror organisations operating from territories controlled by Pakistan.
