In a sensational incident that took place in North Delhi, some unknown assailants opened indiscriminate firing at two friends late at night and fled the spot leaving them in a critical situation.

Old rivalry is suspected to be the motive behind the planned attempt on the lives of the victims. The assailants seemed to settle their old scores with the duo.

The incident took place in the Burari Police Station area on the intervening night of Monday and Tuesday. Both the victims were rushed to the nearby Babu Jagjivan Ram Hospital, from where they have been shifted to the Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Hospital (LNJP).

The victims have been identified as Raja (25), and Manoj (23), both residents of Pinki Chaudhary Colony in Burari. According to the hospital sources, the condition of Manoj is very critical. He was put under regular observation of doctors.

A case on the statement of victim Raja has been registered at the Burari Police Station and investigation has been initiated.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (North Delhi), Sagar Singh Kalsi said information about the incident was received from the Babu Jagjivan Ram Hospital late at night, wherein it was informed that two persons have been brought with multiple gunshot injuries.

Immediately, a police team reached the hospital where the two victims were admitted. The police took the statement of Raja as he was in a condition to speak.

After initial inquiry, primary suspicion of the police is that old enmity is the reason for the attack. The suspects have been named Babu and Mukesh Bauna of the Mukundpur area. It is suspected that they sent shooters to settle old scores.

The police are probing the matter and trying to identify the shooters, who committed the crime.
