A major controversy has erupted in Chandigarh over the death of 31-year-old Deepak, a resident of Sector-52, after a CCTV footage showed two men carrying his body on a bicycle in heavy rain.
While police claim that it looked like a drug overdose case, his family is calling it murder and demanding a fair investigation into the matter.

The victim’s brother, Rahul, has handed the CCTV footage to the police. He says the video exposes what really happened.
“The footage shows two guys dragging Deepak’s body on a bicycle in the pouring rain. They went some distance, dumped his body on the road and ran away,” Rahul said.
He further blamed the two men for his brother’s death and questioned why the police have not made any arrests yet.
Deepak’s father, Ramesh, is refusing to accept the police’s drug overdose theory. “My son left the house on July 8 saying he would be back in five minutes, but he never came back home. We filed a missing report the next day,” Ramesh said.
He also accused the police of keeping them in the dark, claiming they only found out about the body hours after it was recovered.
“If the police say it is an overdose, where is the proof? Deepak’s body had several injury marks on it. This is clearly a murder case,” Ramesh added.
On the other side, police officials said the investigation is in its early stages. They believe initial signs point to an overdose, but they cannot say anything for sure without the post-mortem and forensic reports. They added that teams are working to identify the men seen in the CCTV footage.
