With a stable and high growth rate recorded in the past three years, Chief Minister MK Stalin said Tamil Nadu at 16 per cent has become the number one state in the country in Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) leaving behind bigger states as per the data released by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI).
“This great achievement has been made possible by the Dravidian Model despite lack of support from the Union government. Tamil Nadu is not a big state, neither in territory nor in population, and there was no support from the Union government. With a 16 per cent GSDP rate, the state has witnessed rapid growth,” he wrote in a post on his ‘X’ handle on Saturday, calling it a proud moment.

“It is a sky-high GSDP growth rate and this is not our claim but revealed by the data released by the RBI. Tamil Nadu’s economy has grown to 10.5 lakh crores in the 2021-2025 financial years and the total value is 31.19 lakh crores. We have pipped Maharashtra, Karnataka, Gujarat among others which are developed and bigger states and the credit goes to Tamil Nadu,” he said adding that in per capita income as well Tamil Nadu continues to surge ahead.
Exuding confidence that the DMK will return to power in the 2026 assembly election, the chief minister asserted that by 2031, when the Dravidian Model Government 2.0 completes its tenure Tamil Nadu will be numero uno in the country in all spheres and sectors.
However, the Opposition parties have not bought the DMK government’s claims over economic growth and employment generation. The Pattali Makkal Katchi president Anbumani Ramadoss demanded a whitepaper on progress under the DMK government.
