Police Memorial Day 2025: CM Yadav honors sacrifice, lauds MP police for courage & service

Reaffirming the Indian Army’s timeless ethos of honouring its veterans and upholding the spirit of camaraderie that unites serving and retired personnel, Major General Mukesh Bhanwala, General Officer Commanding (GOC), Tiger Division, on Wednesday visited Honorary Captain Bana Singh (Retd), Param Vir Chakra, at his residence in the border town of RS Pura in the Jammu district, to pay tributes to the living legend. The GOC was accompanied by senior officers of the Tiger Division.
During the interaction, General Officer Commanding lauded the indelible contribution of Singh, whose unmatched courage and leadership during Operation Rajiv in 1987 led to the capture of the strategically vital Quaid Post at a height of 21,325 ft on the Siachen Glacier.

The post was subsequently renamed “Bana Top” in his honour, standing as an enduring testament to the gallant and indomitable spirit of the Indian soldier.

The GOC expressed his deepest appreciation for the invaluable insights shared by the war hero and extended an invitation for the upcoming Mega Ex-Servicemen Rally scheduled on 14 October at Jammu.
The visit exemplifies the Indian Army’s enduring ethos of “Our Veterans: Our Pride”, reaffirming its profound respect, gratitude, and commitment towards its most distinguished heroes from whom the present generation gathers inspiration and whose valour continues to illuminate the path for future generations.
