Telangana: Former HC judge duped of Rs 2.5 cr in the name of electoral bonds

A former judge of the High Court has lodged a police complaint against two men, allegedly associated with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) for duping him of Rs 2.5 crore to buy electoral bonds for the BJP. In return he was promised that his grandchildren in the US would be given jobs.

After failing to retrieve the money from them for two years, the judge has now filed a complaint with Film Nagar police station, which has been registered under Sections of 406 and 420 of IPC for criminal breach of trust and cheating. He had come to know the two men through his relatives.

The former judge of Andhra Pradesh and Allahabad High Courts, who is a resident of Sheikhpet, filed the complaint against Narendra and Sarath Reddy for duping him of Rs 2.5 crore, which he had paid in 2021. He had withdrawn the money from the bank accounts belonging to him and his wife.

He was told by the duo, who claimed to be associated with the RSS, that the money would be used to buy electoral bonds for the BJP. The men had claimed they had contacts in the US and could secure jobs for his grandchildren.

The electoral bonds were interest free bearer bonds which could be purchased anonymously from the State Bank of India before it was struck down by the Supreme Court of India recently.

The former judge who was unsuccessful in either getting the bonds from the two men or ensuring jobs for his grandchildren for the past two years then decided to approach the police with his complaint. He cited WhatsApp messages as evidence of the financial transaction. He accused the two men of misappropriating the money for personal gain.
