“I hope that the new government will live up to the hopes and expectations of responsible people, fulfill its promises and declarations, and bring positive and qualitative changes in the lives of the people of Bihar,” the RJD leader added.
His congratulatory post came shortly after Kumar took oath as the Chief Minister of Bihar for the 10th time in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP National President JP Nadda, and other NDA leaders at Gandhi Maidan in Patna.
In the grand swearing-in ceremony, BJP leaders Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha took oath as Deputy Chief Ministers of Bihar.
Along with Nitish, 26 ministers from NDA’s constituent parties — 14 from BJP, 8 from JD(U), 2 from LJP (Ram Vilas), and 1 each from HAM and RLM — took oath.
In the recently concluded Bihar Assembly polls, the RJD-led Mahagathbandhan was completely routed, winning only 35 seats and Tejashwi’s party, the RJD, was reduced to just 25 seats.
The JDU-led NDA swept the polls and secured 202 seats. NDA ally BJP emerged as the single largest party with 89 seats, followed closely by Nitish Kumar’s JDU, which secured 85 seats.
NDA’s other smaller allies also delivered strong performances – Chirag Paswan’s LJP (RV) won 19 of the 29 seats it contested, Jitan Ram Manjhi’s HAM(S) bagged five of six seats and Upendra Kushwaha’s Rashtriya Lok Morcha clinched four of the six seats it fought.
