Accusing the Enforcement Directorate (ED) of levelling baseless and defamatory charges, Tamil Nadu Minister K. N. Nehru said he would challenge them legally.
In a statement released to the media, he alleged that the ED had become a puppet of the BJP-led Modi government and had joined the opposition in an attempt to undermine the achievements of his ministry and the Dravidian Model government.

Firmly refuting the allegations, Nehru condemned the ED for acting as a tool of the BJP and habitually targeting opposition-ruled States. He alleged that the agency, though an autonomous body, had effectively become a subsidiary of the saffron party.
“In 2013 itself, the Madras High Court quashed the case filed against my brother over a loan taken by him, stating that ‘no crime has been committed’. On that basis, the ED’s FIR was also quashed by a Division Bench,” he pointed out.
Reiterating that he would confront the ED’s allegations through legal means, Nehru asserted that the DMK government could not be intimidated through lies and deception.
