Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma has directed officials to step up alertness and surveillance in districts along the Indo-Pak international border to curb cross-border crimes.

Chairing a high-level review meeting of the state home department on Wednesday evening, the Chief Minister said, “Intensify surveillance and maintain a high alert in the bordering areas to effectively curb drone-based smuggling and other illegal activities.

Sharma, who holds the Home portfolio, directed District Collectors and Superintendents of Police in border districts to ensure better coordination at all levels for timely action against criminal activities.

The Chief Minister’s directive comes close on the heels of a similar review meeting held last week in Bikaner under the Chairmanship of Union Home Minister Amit Shah, following his visit to some border areas.

During his visit to Delhi earlier this week, CM Sharma also paid a courtesy call to National Security Adviser Ajit Doval.

Besides border security, Sharma also took stock of the situation regarding the growing menace of drug trafficking and its impact on the youth.

He directed authorities to dismantle organised drug trafficking networks and crush the financial backbone of these mafias and gangs.

The Chief Minister ordered that their economic assets either be attached or their immovable properties demolished.
