Special teams of the Army, CRPF and police on Monday busted two modules of the Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) outfit and arrested 18 terrorists and their accomplices.

“Huge quantity of grenades, gelatine sticks, detonators and material for making Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) has been recovered from their possession,” a police officer said.

The two modules were busted in Tral and Awantipura areas of South Kashmir Eight accomplices of the terrorists were arrested in North Kashmir.

There has been a surge in terror attacks in Tral, in which civilians and security forces were targeted creating an atmosphere of panic and fear.

A special team was constituted to investigate these cases, and on the basis of material evidence took into custody four persons identified as Younis Nabi Naik of Pinglish, Fayaz Ahmad Wani of Reshipora, Riyaz Ahmad Ganaie of Nigeenpora and Bilal Ahmad Rather of Hafoo Nigeenpora.

Interrogation revealed their complicity in the terror attacks carried out in Tral area of South Kashmir.

Another terror module was busted in Khrew area of Pampore and incriminating materials recovered. Six associates of proscribed terror outfit JeM, identified as Javaid Ahmad Parray, Yasir Bashir Wani, Tahir Yousuf Lone, Rafiq Ahmad Bhat, Javaid Ahmad Khanday and Imran Nazir, were arrested.

In another swoop, the security forces nabbed eight terror accomplices in North Kashmir and foiled their weapon-snatching plan.

The arrests were made in Srinagar, Baramulla and Tangmarg.

This comes a day after a student of the Noida-based Sharda University, Ahtisham Bilal, who had joined the ISIS a few days ago, surrendered before the security forces at his home in the Khanyar locality of Srinagar.

The surrender came in presence of his parents who had made appeals to him to return home as soon as his photo carrying an assault rifle appeared on the social media.
