Shankaracharya claims validation of his argument in court’s stay on his arrest

Shankaracharya Avimukteshwaranand Saraswati of Jyotish Peetha, reacting to the Allahabad High Court’s decision to reserve the verdict and stay his arrest, said that a media trial was being conducted against him. He alleged that the verdict was being pronounced outside the court but today the truth has prevailed.

Shankaracharya said, “The court has stayed the arrest. The judge found merit in our arguments that the case was fabricated, and therefore this order was passed. The judge understood our point. The widespread publicity that was being made so far that Batuk had stayed in the ashram could not be proven. The entire country was misled by creating a false story.”

He further stated that the opposition “didn’t even mention a CD in court. Evidence could have been presented. This means the trial was being conducted using the CD in the media, and the verdict was being rendered outside the court. Further consideration will be given to defamation proceedings.”

Shankaracharya stated that he has been willing to cooperate with the police for the investigation from the beginning and will continue to do so. He asked, “Why wasn’t the action taken at the police level earlier as per the High Court’s decision today? Why weren’t the children sent to juvenile detention? Proper custody was demanded of the children, and today the proper process was observed in court.”

He added, “Not everyone can be in someone’s control. Somewhere, there is always someone who will understand what is right and what is wrong. Today, the people of the country have learned the truth. I had said two things from the beginning: I have no connection with the children. How can children be in the custody of a history-sheeter under the POCSO Act? Children are taking exams, and I was accused.” People across the country were watching the court proceedings online.”
