Scammers have brazenly used an AI-generated video of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu to promote a fake investment scheme with a promise of massive returns.
The state’s IT minister and Naidu’s son, Nara Lokesh, expressed shock over the use of deep fake tech for fraud using the chief minister’s video and warned stern action against the cyber offenders.

Lokesh posted a photo grab of the AI-generated video created by scamsters promising massive daily payoffs after just an initial investment of Rs 22,000 on his ‘X’ handle to warn the public.

He wrote, “Shocked to see a fake AI-generated video featuring a popular senior journalist and our chief minister, Shri Nara Chandrababu Naidu garu, falsely promoting a scam offering massive investment returns. Let me be very clear – this is a complete fraud.”
Posted on social media platforms, the AI-generated video claimed that “one of India’s most successful entrepreneurs has revealed how you can change your life forever,” in a blatant attempt to lure people.
Lokesh issued a stern warning to scammers against using such deep-fake tech to trap people into investing in such fake enterprises and losing their life savings. “Criminals misusing deep-fake tech to deceive the public will not be spared. The government will take stern action against such cyber offenders. Don’t fall for such scams. Stay alert. Report immediately,” said the IT minister in his post.
While AI-generated videos and voices have been used by political parties, often for poll campaigning, misuse of such videos is a cause for concern since people are increasingly falling prey to such fake investment scams, frauds and betting apps.
