A group of prominent saints and spiritual leaders met Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai in Raipur on Tuesday and welcomed the state government’s decision to incorporate Indian cultural, spiritual and moral values into school education. The delegation described the move as an important step towards strengthening value-based learning among students. They said such initiatives would help young people remain connected to the country’s traditions while pursuing modern education.
During the meeting, the saints recalled that earlier generations of students were familiar with traditional prayers and verses such as “Guru Brahma, Guru Vishnu, Guru Devo Maheshwara” and other aspects of India’s cultural heritage through school education. According to them, these practices helped inculcate discipline, respect, moral values and a sense of cultural identity among children.

The spiritual leaders welcomed the state’s decision to revive practices such as Shantipath, Saraswati Vandana, Bhojan Mantra and other traditional prayers in educational institutions. They said the initiative would contribute to the holistic development of students by nurturing not only academic abilities but also ethical and social values.
They further observed that exposure to India’s knowledge traditions and cultural heritage at an early age would help students develop a deeper understanding of the country’s civilisational legacy and strengthen their sense of responsibility towards society.
Chief Minister Sai said education should not be viewed solely as a means of acquiring knowledge or professional skills. Character building, moral development and the cultivation of values are equally important components of the learning process, he said.
The Chief Minister noted that the state government is committed to integrating Indian culture, traditions and spiritual values with contemporary education. He said students should receive an education that prepares them for the future while also helping them remain rooted in their cultural heritage.
Sai said that the inclusion of Shantipath, Saraswati Vandana and other inspirational prayers in schools can play a constructive role in shaping young minds. Such practices, he said, help promote discipline, positive thinking, self-confidence and cultural awareness among students.
He described the initiative as an important effort to reconnect the younger generation with its roots and to nurture responsible, aware and value-driven citizens.
The delegation included Dakshin Kaushal Peethadheeshwar Swami Rajeev Lochan Das Ji Maharaj, Mahant Surendra Das Ji Maharaj of Nirvani Akhara, Uday Lal Ji of Shadani Darbar and Devkar Sahab Ji of Kabir Ashram, Sonpairi. The saints extended their blessings to the Chief Minister and expressed support for the government’s efforts to promote value based education alongside academic learning.
