Evoking the “son of the soil” sentiment, Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy on Tuesday appealed to regional parties of the two Telugu states to support former Supreme Court justice B Sudarshan Reddy – INDIA bloc’s candidate for Vice Presidential poll.

Reddy has appealed to parties like the BRS, TDP, YSRCP, Jana Sena, MIM and Left parties to support his candidature. Meanwhile, TDP leader and AP minister Nara Lokesh met the NDA vice presidential candidate CP Radhakrishnan in New Delhi today.

Pointing out that the former Supreme Court judge was not associated with the Congress, the chief minister said, “It is a matter of pride that B Sudarshan Reddy, a Telugu born in an agricultural family, has been announced as a vice president candidate. It is the responsibility of every Telugu to make him win. This is an occasion when we should unite beyond politics.”

Revanth Reddy appealed to his Andhra Pradesh counterpart N Chandrababu Naidu, BRS supremo K Chandrasekhar Rao, AP deputy chief minister Pawan Kalyan and the Communist parties, as well as BJP MPs from both states, to support the former judge. He reminded them that Sudarshan Reddy was not associated with any political party and his name was only proposed by the INDI Alliance.

“In 1991, when PV Narasimha Rao contested for the Nandyal MP seat, NTR had supported him and had not put up a candidate. He showed political wisdom. Today, once again, a Telugu person is contesting as a vice president candidate, we should show similar wisdom,” said the chief minister.

Meanwhile, AP minister Nara Lokesh met the NDA’s vice presidential candidate CP Radhakrishnan today at New Delhi in a show of support. TDP is a key ally of the NDA and Lokesh later wrote on his social media handle, “No ambiguity – only warmth, respect and resolve. The NDA stands united.”
