Red Fort blast: Delhi Police launch manhunt for red Ford EcoSport linked to suspect; Haryana, UP cops alerted

The Delhi Police on Wednesday launched a massive manhunt for a red colour Ford Eco Sport car after an investigation into the Red Fort bomb blast revealed that the suspect had another car in addition to the Hyundai i20, which was used in the incident.

Delhi police has formed five teams to search for the car, and all police stations, police posts, and border checkpoints in the national capital have been instructed to look out for it.

At least 13 people were killed and over 20 others sustained injuries in a car blast near the iconic Red Fort in Delhi on Monday.

Investigation revealed that a doctor named Umar Un Nabi, who was allegedly linked to the Jaish module busted in Haryana’s Faridabad, detonated a pre-matured bomb kept in his Hyundai i20 car.

According to reports, Nabi went missing after the J&K police crackdown on his associates in Faridabad and other parts of the country.

The police had also seized over 350 kg of an explosive material, possibly ammonium nitrate. It is also suspected that the same explosive material was used in the Red Fort blast.

According to the CCTV footage examined by the investigators, Nabi was behind the wheel of the Hyundai i20 car used in the blast. He drove the car from Faridabad to Delhi and kept it parked for around three hours in the parking lot of a nearby mosque.

Initial findings have also suggested that the Red Fort blast was not a typical suicide attack, and Nabi may have triggered the explosion in panic after police busted the terror module and arrested his associates.

Anti-terror agency NIA is investigating the case, and more details are likely to emerge in the coming days.
