The games will be open to every age group for competitions in seven disciplines –Kabaddi (men and women), tennis ball cricket, kho-kho, volleyball, athletics (100, 200 and 400 metre), football and basketball.

After hosting the Rural Olympics successfully, Rajasthan is all set to organise ‘Rajiv Gandhi Urban Olympics Games’ in all 240 urban centres of the state, including 10 municipal corporations, from January 26, 2023.

Announcing this on Wednesday, the Minister of State for Sports Ashok Chandna launched a portal – rajolympic.rajasthan.gov.in – for the registration of the players aspiring to participate in the tournament. Players can register themselves for the event by January 21 on the portal.

“After the phenomenal success of the Rajiv Gandhi Rural Olympic Games, these games are being orgniased in the cities. Over 30 lakh players participated in the Rural Olympic Games, which is a world record. Due to this, a positive atmosphere has been created in favour of sports along with social harmony in the state. People are entering the playground so that they can lead a healthy life,” the minister Ashok Chandna told SNS,

He hoped that the games will prepare a nursery for sports in the state which, he said, will yield better results in future.
