In a shocking incident, a rape victim in Rajasthan’s Behror-Kotputali area was stabbed multiple times and shot at by the accused, who was recently released on bail. The incident reportedly took place outside the Pragpura police station on Saturday evening.

According to the reports, the accused indentified as Rajendra Yadav along with one other associate, stopped the victim, who was going on a scooty with his brother.

The accused first attacked the victim’s brother with an iron road and then turned towards the victim and stabbed her multiple times. He also shot at her and fled the area thinking she was dead.

The victim was rushed to the local hospital in a critical condition and was referred to Jaipur’s SMS hospital where doctors have removed the bullet. Her condition is said to be serious.

The victim’s family has alleged that ever since the accused got out on the bail, he has been pressurising her to settle the dispute. However, when she refused, he threatened to kill her.

She reportedly informed the police and sought to lodge an FIR against him. However, the family alleged, the police didn’t register the FIR.

Meanwhile, Rajendra Yadav, who is the main accused, has been arrested by the police, while efforts are on to arrest his associate.

Rajesh Meena, Pragpura police station incharge, informed The Statesman that they are currently following the trails of the other accused and will provide more details after that.

The incident has raised questions on the law and order situation in Rajasthan. Women safety was also among the key promises of the ruling BJP government before the state assembly elections last year.
