Rahul Gandhi slams BJP-JDU government over Bihar’s development

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi Tuesday criticized the BJP-JDU government in Bihar, citing the state’s poor performance in education, health, employment, and human development. In a recent interaction with the youth in Bihar, Gandhi attributed the state’s dire state to the government’s policies.

He shared some alarming statistics, highlighting Bihar’s rankings in various sectors:

Education: 27th in dropout rates in classes 9-10, 28th in enrollment rates in classes 11-12, and 28th in female literacy.

Employment: 21st in employment in the service sector and 23rd in industry/manufacturing sector.

Health: 27th in infant mortality rate, 29th in health coverage under insurance schemes, and 29th in access to toilets in households.

Human Development: 27th in Human Development Index (HDI) and 25th in per capita income.

Gandhi emphasized that these statistics reflect the government’s failure to provide opportunities for the youth. “These are not just numbers; they are a mirror, a rear-view mirror showing how far this ‘double engine’ has dragged Bihar back from progress,” he said in a post on handle X. Gandhi added that the youth of Bihar are talented and intelligent, but the government has failed to provide them with opportunities, instead offering unemployment and despair.

Calling for change and reaffirming the Mahagathbandhan’s commitment to justice, he said: “Now is the time for change—to reawaken Bihar’s pride. It is time to reaffirm the Mahagathbandhan’s resolve for justice,” he said.

By his comments, Gandhi has sparked a debate about the government’s performance in Bihar and the need for change.
