Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday hosted the Indian Blind Women’s Cricket Team, champions of the inaugural T20 World Cup, at his 10 Janpath residence in New Delhi.

Sharing photographs of his interaction with the players on X, Rahul Gandhi wrote, “Today, I had the honour of hosting the Indian Blind Women’s Cricket Team, the proud winners of the inaugural T20 World Cup, in New Delhi.”

The Congress leader said the team’s victory sends a powerful message of courage and possibility. “Their grit, discipline, and extraordinary spirit are an inspiration for the entire nation. India is proud of these champions,” he added.

The Indian Women’s Cricket Team for the Blind, led by Captain Deepika TC from Karnataka and Vice-Captain Ganga S Kadam from Maharashtra, remained undefeated throughout the tournament, showcasing exceptional teamwork, resilience, and skill.

In a high-intensity final against Nepal, India secured a seven-wicket victory in Colombo on 23 November. India restricted Nepal to 114/5 and chased down the target in just 12.1 overs, powered by standout performances across the squad.

Phula Saren played a decisive innings of 44 off 27 balls, earning the Player of the Match award. Captain Deepika TC delivered consistent all-round brilliance, including a remarkable 91 off 58 balls against Australia earlier in the tournament.

Karuna Pangi Kumari, a Class 10 student from Visakhapatnam, impressed with a composed 42 in the final. Durga Yevle, born in 2003, inspired many with her journey from a small-town background to the national stage through sheer hard work and determination.
