Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday began a two-day tour across the coastal districts of poll-bound Karnataka, party leaders said.

In his third visit to the state after taking over as party chief, Gandhi will be touring the south coastal and Malnad regions including Udupi, Dakshina Kannada, Chikmagalur and Hassan districts where he will be addressing various public meetings.

He will interact with the party leaders and cadres during his visit.

The Congress chief will also inaugurate the Rajiv Gandhi Political Institute in Udupi, named after his late father and former Prime Minister, and will also visit temples, dargahs and churches in the four districts.

He will be praying at the Gokarnatheswara temple, Rosario church, Ullal dargah, Sringeri Sharadamba temple and also Sringeri mutt.

He will also be meeting Jagadguru Shankaracharya, Sri Bharati Tirtha Swamiji of the Sringeri mutt.

Gandhi had visited the state for the first time after becoming the party chief in December, and then twice in February, covering Koppal, Ballari, Raichur, Yadigir, Kalaburgi and Bidar districts in his first visit and Belagavi, Vijayapura, Bagalkot and Dharwad districts in the second.

The Gandhi scion will be visiting the state again on March 24 and 25.

He is scheduled to tour Mysuru, Mandya and Chamarajanagara districts, and is expected to address a mega rally at Maharaja ground in Mysuru on March 25 evening, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah had said.
