Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday launched a scathing attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, alleging that the PM hurriedly carried out the trade deal with the USA to salvage his image and political career, clearly under pressure from the criminal case against Gautam Adani in that country and the looming threat from the Epstein files.
Addressing the ‘Kisan Mahachaupal’ at Atal Path in Bhopal, organised by the Congress to protest against the Indo-US trade deal, Gandhi charged, “Narendra Modi sold Indian farmers, the country’s data, and the country’s industry and business to the US.”

Clad in his trademark white collared T-shirt, Rahul Gandhi averred, “I can say with confidence that Narendra Modi did the deal only under threat and pressure from the US, to save his image and political career.”
“But Narendra Modi cannot save himself. No power can save him now,” Gandhi declared.
“When the US Supreme Court rejected the proposed Trump tariffs in that country, many nations of the world reacted. But Narendra Modi has not yet said a word on that. I challenge the PM — if he has the guts — he should cancel the trade deal with the US,” Rahul Gandhi asserted.
“Trump says that India will have to buy products worth Rs nine lakh crore every year from the US for five years. In return, India has got nothing in the deal. In fact, we will pay more tax than earlier. The US has not given any import guarantee to India either,” Gandhi said, elaborating on the deal terms.
“Even the leaders and workers of the BJP and RSS now understand why the PM did the deal with the US. They know it was under pressure and threat,” Gandhi claimed.
“The trade deal was on hold for four months, only because of the issue of India’s farmers and agriculture sector,” he asserted.
“However, soon after I was not allowed to speak on the Presidential Address in the Lok Sabha, PM Modi called up US President Trump in the evening and said he was ready to sign the Indo-US trade deal,” Gandhi claimed. “Modi ji did not even consult his Cabinet colleagues like Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Nitin Gadkari, and Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan,” he further alleged.
“Narendra Modi literally ran away from the Lok Sabha. The next day, a lame and false excuse was made that the women members of the Congress were about to attack him inside the House,” Gandhi charged.
“The truth is that the PM was not able to face Parliament,” he averred.
“Narendra Modi sold Indian farmers, the Indian garment industry, and the country’s entire data to the USA,” Gandhi accused.
“Do you know why?” he asked.
“There are two reasons. The first is the 30 lakh Epstein files. Only some have been released, but many are still undisclosed. They contain everything, from messages to emails to videos. Everything. Only some have been released, and they have Hardeep Puri’s name,” he said.
“This is a message. A threat, which means that if you do not agree, then more damning revelations would come out,” Gandhi reasoned. “Anil Ambani and Hardeep Puri’s names are in the Epstein files. Narendra Modi ji must clarify to the nation what his relationship with Anil Ambani is. There are many more names in those files which are still undisclosed,” Gandhi said.
“This is the first reason. The second, and more dangerous, reason is (Gautam) Adani. This is not just any ordinary company, but the entire financial structure of the BJP and PM Modi,” Gandhi alleged.
“The second threat is the criminal case against Gautam Adani in the USA. He is scared of getting caught, and so he does not travel anymore to the USA or Europe,” Gandhi claimed.
“The real target of the US criminal case is not Adani. It is Narendra Modi. That arrow is named against Adani, but aimed at Modi ji,” Gandhi averred.
“If you look into Narendra Modi’s eyes, you will see that he is compromised, he has been trapped, and he has done the deal under pressure and threat,” Rahul Gandhi charged.
Referring to the recent showdown in the Lok Sabha over the book by former Army Chief General M. M. Narwane, Rahul Gandhi said it was the first time in Indian parliamentary history that the Leader of Opposition was not allowed to speak.
“Narwane ji has written in his book that when Chinese tanks were entering Indian territory, he called up Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and asked for his orders. But he got no reply for two hours. Finally, he was told by Rajnath Singh, as conveyed by PM Modi, to do whatever he thought fit,” Gandhi reiterated.
“The former Indian Army chief has lamented that at such a critical moment, the PM and the government abandoned him and left him alone,” Gandhi said.
“Narendra Modi has betrayed the nation, its farmers, its industry, and its people,” Rahul Gandhi accused.
Thousands of Congress workers and farmers attended the meeting, which was also addressed by Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge.
The venue was clad with posters and hoardings against the PM and the Union BJP government, with some reading ‘Narender Surrender’ (sic), while others read ‘Narender ki Surrender Sarkaar’ and ‘This trade deal is anti-nation’.
