The raids resulted in the recovery of 985 grams of heroin, 21 kg of poppy husk, 1,625 intoxicant tablets/capsules, and ₹9,850 in drug money from those arrested, according to an official statement.
The operation was conducted under the directions of Punjab Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav, simultaneously across all 28 police districts of the state.
Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has directed Commissioners of Police, Deputy Commissioners, and Senior Superintendents of Police to work towards making Punjab a drug-free state.
To ensure close monitoring, the Punjab government has constituted a five-member Cabinet Sub-Committee, headed by Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema, to oversee the campaign.
Sharing details, Special DGP (Law and Order) Arpit Shukla said that over 100 police teams—comprising more than 900 personnel and supervised by 64 gazetted officers—carried out the raids. He added that police teams also questioned 364 suspicious individuals during the day-long operation.
