Two persons were injured after an ambulance accompanying the convoy of Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria was involved in a road accident near Samrala on Sunday, officials said.

According to preliminary information, the Governor’s convoy was travelling from Chandigarh to Ludhiana when the incident occurred. An ambulance moving with the convoy reportedly collided with an Innova vehicle that had entered the VIP convoy route.

Officials said the accident took place after the Innova allegedly applied the brakes suddenly, leaving the ambulance with little time to react. The impact resulted in injuries to two individuals.

On receiving information, teams of the Road Safety Force and local police rushed to the spot and initiated rescue operations. The injured were shifted to the Civil Hospital in Samrala in another ambulance, where they were provided medical assistance.

Doctors examined the injured persons and advised further diagnostic tests, including an X-ray and a CT scan, for one of them. At the request of family members, the injured individual was later referred to a hospital in Ludhiana for further treatment.

The accident led to a brief disruption and commotion at the site, but the situation was brought under control promptly by the Road Safety Force and police personnel.

Officials confirmed that no loss of life was reported in the incident. The Governor was not injured, and the convoy continued its journey after the situation was managed.
