Rahul Gandhi slams PM Modi over “fear” of Donald Trump

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi Thursday criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi, accusing him of being frightened of US President Donald Trump.

Gandhi listed several instances to support his claim, including the government’s decision to cancel Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman’s visit to the US and PM Modi’s absence from the Sharm el-Sheikh summit.

Gandhi, who is also the leader of opposition in the Lok Sabha, alleged that PM Modi allowed Trump to dictate India’s stance on buying Russian oil, saying, “PM Modi is frightened of Trump…Allows Trump to decide and announce that India will not buy Russian oil.”

Despite repeated snubs, PM Modi continues to send congratulatory messages to Trump, Gandhi claimed in a post on X.

The cancellation of Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman’s visit to the US is another example of PM Modi’s fear, according to Gandhi.

Gandhi pointed out that PM Modi skipped the Sharm el-Sheikh summit, further indicating his fear of Trump.

He further criticized PM Modi for not contradicting Trump on Operation Sindoor, a sensitive issue related to India, accusing the Prime Minister of failing to defend the country’s position.

Rahul Gandhi’s remarks highlight the ongoing debate about India’s relations with the US under the Modi government. As the political landscape continues to evolve, Gandhi’s comments are likely to spark further discussion and scrutiny of the government’s foreign policy decisions. END
