President Ram Nath Kovind will launch the Solar Charkha Mission on 27 June 2018 in New Delhi. It aims to disburse subsidy of Rs 550 crore to 400 to 2000 artisans in each of the 50 clusters covered under the Mission.

MoS (Independent Charge) Ministry of Micro Small & Medium Enterprises (MSME) Giriraj Singh said that 15 new state-of-the-art technology centres are being set up all over the country including the northeast, of which 10 centres will become operational by March 2019.

Singh spoke about the flagship programme of the MSME while releasing a booklet on the achievements of his Ministry in the last four years.

Addressing reporters in New Delhi, the Minister said that each centre is being built at a cost of around Rs 150 crore.

“The 10 centres which will become operational soon are located in Durg (Chhattisgarh), Bhiwadi (Rajasthan), Rohtak (Haryana), Visakhapatnam (Andhra Pradesh), Bengaluru (Karnataka), Sitarganj (Uttarakhand), Baddi (Himachal Pradesh), Bhopal (MP), Kanpur (UP) and Puducherry,” he said.

Singh added that the budgetary allocation under Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) has been increased by 75 per cent to Rs. 1,800 crore for FY 2018-19.

“In order to incentivise entrepreneurs, mainly women and SC/ST, the government will be making an investment of about Rs 10,000 crore in the micro sector in this financial year,” he informed.

According to Singh, 5 crore women entrepreneurs will be extended technological and financial support under the Mission.

The Minister also informed that work being done by the Ministry has promoted Ease-of-Doing-Business with the setting up of four portals: ‘MSME Sambandh’, MSME Samadhaan, Udyog Aadhaar and Udyam Sakhi.

He said that the Ministry of MSME has provided training to over 15 lakh people during the last four years through its various initiatives.
