Post offices can help achieve ‘financial inclusion’ in rural India: Naidu

Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu on Tuesday said post offices can help in achieving “financial inclusion” in the rural areas by providing postal savings and insurance schemes.

Interacting with Probationers of Indian Postal Service (IPos) in the national capital, Naidu exhorted the group to re-design and strengthen the rural postal network to make it a distribution and logistics hub.

“Post Office can help in achieving financial inclusion in the rural areas, especially among the weaker sections of the society by providing Postal savings schemes and insurance schemes,” Naidu said.

“Re-design and strengthen the rural postal network to make it a distribution and logistics hub. Always keep on identifying new areas where the post office can make the difference in quality of service,” he added.

The vice president further asked the probationers to work towards providing world-class postal services in both in the cities and villages.

“You should aim to provide world-class postal services in India for a modern and progressive nation should ensure world-class postal services both in the cities and villages,” he said.
