Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday held talks with Kazakhstan counterpart Olzhas Bektenov in New Delhi on the sidelines of the AI Impact Summit hosted by India. Both the leaders reviewed bilateral cooperation in a range of fields, including political, trade, defence and security, connectivity, energy, emerging technologies, and people-to-people ties.

After the meeting, the prime minister, in separate posts on X, said, “Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov and I met earlier today. His visit will further deepen India-Kazakhstan Strategic Partnership. There is immense scope for bilateral cooperation in trade, energy, critical minerals, rare earths, defence, connectivity and space. We will keep working together to take our friendship to new heights.”

Both the leaders discussed ways to strengthen strategic partnership.

In a post on X, Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi held bilateral discussions with Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov of Kazakhstan on the sidelines of the AI Impact Summit. The leaders discussed ways to strengthen strategic partnership and deepen bilateral cooperation in all sectors, including trade, defence and security, connectivity, energy, emerging technologies, and people-to-people ties.”

Earlier in the day, Bektenov was received by Union Minister of State for External Affairs Kirti Vardhan Singh on his arrival at the IGI Airport.

“Prime Minister Mr. Olzhas Bektenov of Kazakhstan, arrives in New Delhi. Cordially received by Minister of State Kirti Vardhan Singh at the airport. The visit of PM Bektenov and his participation at the India-AI Impact Summit will give fillip to the robust partnership between both countries,” Jaiswal in an X post.

PM Modi also held a separate interaction with Bhutan’s Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay on the sidelines of the Summit. Both the leaders reviewed the progress in bilateral cooperation in several key sectors, including energy, connectivity, development partnership and people to people connect.

According to the MEA, the two leaders expressed support for harnessing Artificial Intelligence (AI) for inclusive and human-centric progress and agreed to further strengthen cooperation in AI and digital tech space. They also reaffirmed their commitment to work closely to further strengthen the India-Bhutan partnership anchored in trust, goodwill and mutual respect.
