Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday welcomed US President Donald Trump’s announcement of a comprehensive plan to end the Gaza conflict.
In a social media post on X, PM Modi said that the Gaza peace plan “provides a viable pathway to long-term and sustainable peace, security and development for the Palestinian and Israeli people, as also for the larger West Asian region.”

The Prime Minister said that he was hopeful that all concerned parties will back President Trump’s initiative and support his efforts to end the conflict and secure peace in the region.
Modi’s remarks came shortly after the White House released a peace plan to end the two-year-old conflict in Gaza.
The peace plan was announced after a meeting between US President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
What does the Gaza peace plan state?
As part of the peace plan, the Gaza Strip will be “de-radicalized” and redeveloped. It states that if both parties accept the terms, the war in Gaza will come to an immediate end. Israel will withdraw its troops to the agreed-upon line and suspend all military operations, including aerial and artillery bombardments.
Hamas will have to release all the living hostages and return the remains of the deceased within 72 hours of Israel publicly accepting the terms of the peace deal. For each Israeli hostage’s remains, Tel Aviv will release the remains of 15 Gazans.
In exchange, Israel will release 250 Palestinian prisoners facing life sentences. Moreover, 1,700 Gazans who were arrested by Israel after the October 7, 2023 attack, will also be freed.
However, both Trump and Netanyahu vowed to finish the job of destroying Hamas if the Palestinian militant organisation doesn’t agree to the plan.
