Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be on a two-day visit to Tamil Nadu starting Saturday, during which he will lay the foundation stone, inaugurate, and dedicate various development projects worth over Rs 4,800 crore to the nation, a release from his office stated on Friday.

The projects aim to enhance regional connectivity, boost logistics efficiency, strengthen clean energy infrastructure, and improve the quality of life for citizens across Tamil Nadu.

PM Modi will inaugurate the new terminal building, developed at a cost of around Rs 450 crore, designed to handle 20 lakh passengers annually.

He will dedicate to the nation two highway projects worth over Rs 3600 crore, including the 4-laning of the Sethiyathope-Cholapuram stretch of NH-36 and the 6-laning of the NH-138 Tuticorin Port Road.

Three key railway projects will also be dedicated to the nation, including the electrification of the Madurai-Bodinayakkanur line and the doubling of the Nagercoil Town-Kanniyakumari section.

PM Modi will inaugurate the North Cargo Berth-III at V O Chidambaranar Port, with a cargo handling capacity of 6.96 MMTP.
The foundation stone will be laid for the Inter-State Transmission System for the evacuation of electricity from Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plant Units 3 and 4.

PM Modi will also participate in the celebration of the birth anniversary of Chola Emperor Rajendra Chola I at the Gangaikonda Cholapuram Temple in Tiruchirappalli, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

A commemorative coin will be released to honour Rajendra Chola I, marking 1,000 years of his maritime expedition to Southeast Asia.
