Recap of previous CCS meeting
At the previous CCS meeting on April 1, chaired by the Prime Minister, the government reviewed its response to the ongoing West Asia conflict. The Cabinet Secretary briefed the panel on steps taken to maintain supplies of petroleum products, including LNG and LPG, and to ensure adequate power availability.
The Prime Minister also reviewed the availability of essential commodities for citizens, including food, fuel and fertilisers. The government assessed stock levels and discussed measures to ensure supplies during the Kharif and Rabi crop seasons.
Officials said steps taken in recent years to maintain fertiliser reserves are expected to support timely availability for farmers. Alternative sourcing options were also discussed to avoid future disruptions.
The meeting also noted that sufficient coal stocks at power plants would help prevent any electricity shortages, ensuring an uninterrupted supply across the country.
