Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to undertake an important visit to Karnataka and Goa on Friday, November 28, to participate in significant religious and cultural celebrations that highlight India’s rich spiritual legacy, according to a government statement released on Thursday.
The day will commence at 11:30 AM in Udupi, Karnataka, where PM Modi will visit the historic Sri Krishna Matha. He will take part in the Laksha Kantha Gita Parayana, a devotional gathering of 100,000 participants, including students, monks, scholars, and citizens, reciting the Srimad Bhagavad Gita together.

Modi will also inaugurate the Suvarna Teertha Mantapa near the Krishna sanctum and dedicate the Kanaka Kavacha—a golden cover for the sacred Kanakana Kindi, through which saint Kanakadasa is believed to have had a divine vision of Lord Krishna. The Sri Krishna Matha, established over 800 years ago by Sri Madhvacharya, stands as a pivotal centre of the Dvaita Vedanta philosophy.
Later in the afternoon, around 3:15 PM, PM Modi will travel to Goa to join the ‘Sardha Panchashatamanotsava’ celebrations, commemorating the 550th birth anniversary of the Shree Samsthan Gokarn Partagali Jeevottam Math in Canacona, South Goa. The Prime Minister will unveil a towering 77-foot bronze statue of Prabhu Shri Ram and inaugurate the newly developed ‘Ramayana Theme Park Garden.’
PM Modi will also release a special postal stamp and commemorative coin honouring this milestone. He will address the gathering, spotlighting the Math’s distinction as the first Gowd Saraswat Brahmin Vaishnava Math, following the Dvaita tradition founded by Jagadguru Madhvacharya in the 13th century. Located on the banks of the Kushavati River in Partagali, the Math holds immense cultural and spiritual significance in Goa.
This visit underscores the government’s dedication to preserving India’s diverse spiritual traditions and promoting cultural unity, while celebrating the timeless legacy of India’s ancient philosophies and religious institutions.
