Pingali Venkayya was a freedom fighter, agriculturist, and educationist who designed the initial version of the Indian National Flag. He presented his design to Mahatma Gandhi in 1921, which featured red and green stripes representing Hindus and Muslims, respectively, and a white stripe added later to represent other communities. Over time, the design evolved, and the flag was officially adopted in its final form on July 22, 1947.

Various leaders, including Chief Ministers of Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Rajasthan, paid tribute to Venkayya on his birth anniversary. They remembered him for his significant contribution to India’s independence movement and his role in designing the national flag.

The “Har Ghar Tiranga” movement aims to promote patriotism and national pride by encouraging citizens to fly the Tricolour at their homes. Citizens can upload their selfies or photos with the flag. The initiative is part of the government’s efforts to instill a sense of national unity and pride.
