PM Modi Mourns Passing Away of Thailand’s Queen Mother Sirikit

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday expressed his deep sadness over the passing away of Queen Mother Sirikit of Thailand. “I am deeply saddened by the passing of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, the Queen Mother of Thailand,” PM Modi said in a heartfelt tribute.

The Queen Mother, who brought glamour and elegance to a postwar revival in the country’s monarchy and who, in later years, would occasionally wade into politics, died aged 93, the Thai Royal Household Bureau had said on Saturday. The palace said she had been hospitalised since 2019 due to several illnesses and developed a bloodstream infection on October 17 before passing away late on Friday.

PM Modi praised Queen Sirikit’s lifelong dedication to public service, saying, “Her lifelong dedication to public service will continue to inspire generations.” The Prime Minister’s message conveyed a sense of respect and admiration for the Queen Mother’s contributions to Thailand and its people.

PM Modi extended his heartfelt condolences to the Royal Family and the people of Thailand, saying, “My heartfelt condolences to His Majesty The King, the members of the Royal Family and the people of Thailand in this hour of profound grief.”
