Another key high point of the PM’s visit is the inauguration of the National Makhana Board. The establishment of the board was announced in the Union budget earlier this year.

To benefit Makhana farmers in Bihar and across the country, the board, as announced in the Union Budget 2025, will focus on boosting production, promoting new technologies, strengthening post-harvest management, encouraging value addition and processing, and supporting market access, exports, and brand development for Makhana.

The Prime Minister will also distribute ₹500 crore to women’s self-help groups under the DAY-NRLM and participate in Griha Pravesh ceremonies for more than 40,000 PMAY beneficiaries.

Meanwhile, the district administration has enforced extensive security measures. Automobile traffic on state and national highways will remain suspended for 24 hours starting midnight Sunday.

PM  Modi had earlier unveiled projects worth ₹13,000 crore during his visit to Bihar on August 22. In July, he visited Motihari, where he laid the foundation for development works amounting to ₹7,200 crore.

Bihar heads to the polls later this year, with the National Democratic Alliance aiming to retain power against the Opposition’s grand alliance. The Election Commission is expected to announce the assembly poll schedule in the coming weeks.
